The key Features of Feasibility Report is elaborated below:
Key Aspects
- The master plan for the development of River Bharalu with landscaping details from Jonali Bridge to Bharalumukh.
- Cleaning and re-sectioning of river Bharalu.
- Construction of a Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) of Capacity_85.5 MLD (considering the flow of the ultimate year 2050) near Ulubari fish feed farm using Sequential Batch Reactor (SBR) Technology for River Bharalu.
- Although the River Bahini is not in the preview of ADB projects, essentially an integral part of Bharalu river system hence some measures for arresting dry weather flow suggested.
- Interceptor pipe drains along the river Bharalu to collect the sewage from either side of the river.
- Reuse of treated waste water-Treated water from the STP will be discharged into the river for maintaining ecological flow in the river as well as help creating a waterfront along the river. Also, the treated wastewater can be supplied to the industries nearby Guwahati. (Work in progress). Treated wastewater will be supplied to some of the Govtbldgs nearby for gardening.
- Diversion of some flow from Bharalu to Morabharalu River.
- Various other infrastructure works identified are:-
- Construction of a new bridge at Jonali with increased clearance and utility corridor provision and pathways.
- Dismantling of existing wooden bridge and construction of RCC Bridge with pathways and utility corridor.
- Construction of new pedestrian bridges,
- Construction of retaining walls/embankments all along the banks up to Bharalumukh pumping station.
- Dismantling of existing stone masonry walls considering the new re-sectioning requirements.
- Development of walkway over the river along its banks, children play area, public toilets, drinking water points, waste bins
- Landscaping, generation of solar power are the part of the development of the riverfront.
- Reuse of tertiary treated wastewater from proposed STP for flushing in Govt. buildings and gardening purpose.
- The Survey and Investigations and data collection.
- Topographical survey, water quality sampling, dry weather flow measurement, geotechnical investigations etc. surveys are completed.
- R & R survey is currently ongoing.
